All Age of Energy Books explore humanity's relationship with energy and its role in humanity's evolution through time. Mankind is the animal who learned to control fire and continually increase his combustion base. The opposable thumb, the neo-cortex, language, art, bi-pedalism, extended culture are all intrinsic to what it means to be "Man". But all of humanity's advances depend upon her co-opting increasing energy sources.

Age of Energy I: Celia's Gift

A defining time for human cultures, in 41 AE earth's diverse people are beginning to extract and use the last ¼ oil reserves available on earth. That indigenous fossil-energy is a one time "gift" has been named and remembered. Humanity, as a species, must learn how to harvest infinite energy and evolve from dependence on limited, fossil-energy. These must be clean, renewable sources if they are generated within Earth's atmosphere. The Age of Energy itself grew from the chaos of post-peak decades when human technologies and cultures have had to adapt to the fact that less oil remains ahead than is used. This fact has set the clock ticking.

Realized as the benchmark it is, 3/4 oil depletion must see three technological pinnacles in humanity's achievements: Biologics and renewable-energy harnessing; near-space commerce; and the beginning solution to the infinite energy 'machine'.

Or we shall go the way of all other earth-bound species.
